ChronoQuest

Players use a Chrono Device to visit historical eras, witness pivotal events firsthand, interact with historical figures, and complete missions that require understanding each era's culture, technology, and conflicts. Unlike passive timelines, players live through history's defining moments -- facing branching decisions with real consequences.

Meet your mentor

Every Spark & Anvil app has a friendly mentor character that demonstrates, praises, and patiently scaffolds learning. On-device AI personalizes the mentor's responses to your kid's progress — never connecting to a server, never collecting data.

Your choices matter -- and you can even explore "what if" scenarios to see how history could have gone differently.

Distributed-narrative cast

Meet the cast

ChronoQuest's 8-guide cast is a roster of methodological lenses — historians' tools personified — NOT representations of real cultural figures. Each guide is a mythic-historian archetype (NEVER 'Herodotus the Witness'; NEVER 'Mercator the Cartographer'). Per `chronoquest-app/Docs/HANDOFF_FROM_LABSMITH_DISTRIBUTED_NARRATIVE_RETROFIT.md` (Wave 3, shipped 2026-05-21 — site backfill 2026-05-22 Wave 32a). UNIQUE TRAUMA-INFORMED BURDEN (HIGHEST in Wave 3): kits 04 / 07 / 08 / 10 are 'Very High' load; off-ramps + pre-content warnings + skip-with-summary + mentor 'validate-then-inform' posture required. Kit 10 (Indigenous Civilizations) gets four heaviest-stewardship guides cooperating. External sensitivity reviewer collective REQUIRED ($1000-$1500) before Storykeeper + Chronicler-of-the-Defeated art generation — broadest stewardship burden in Wave 3. Strict separation between guide cast + existing real-historical-figure FoundationModels dialogue surface; the two layers must never blur.
