Two stars run out of fuel. Why does one Pinch into a supernova and the other just cool quietly?
Brawn then says: “Our Sun will supernova at the end of its life, like all stars.” — is that right?
The link: birth mass (Brawn) is the single dial that sets whether a star ends in a Pinch or fades gently.
How heavy it's born decides how it dies.
Glow (main-sequence star — steady hydrogen fusion) × Swell (red giant — expands and fuses helium)
A star fuses hydrogen calmly for billions of years, then suddenly balloons. What just changed inside it?
Glow then says: “A red giant is a totally different star from a main-sequence one — no connection.” — is that right?
The link: red giant is main-sequence's next stage — Swell begins when Glow's core fuel ends.
