You've helped them one at a time. The real understanding is how the ideas CONNECT — teach that next.
Wing (lift generation — the airfoil bending air to hold the plane up) × Thrust (propulsion — every engine just throws air backward)
A plane's engines cut out and it begins to sink even with perfect wings. Why do Wing and Thrust explain that?
Wing then says: “A wing generates full lift even with no forward speed, so engines are irrelevant to staying up.” — is that right?
The link: thrust provides the airspeed the wing needs to make lift.
Push it forward fast, and the wing holds it up.
Tail (the stabilizer family — the tail is why your paper plane goes straight) × Yaw (vertical-axis control — the rudder is the polish on the turn)
A paper plane with no tail tumbles, and a real plane steers its heading with a rudder on the tail. How do Tail and Yaw connect?
Tail then says: “The rudder has nothing to do with the tail; stability and steering come from completely separate parts.” — is that right?
The link: the tail both stabilizes and steers — the rudder is its moving part.
The tail keeps it straight, and the rudder points it.
Capstone — fly one aircraft together
Three forces of flight. Bring in the cast member for each.

Keep it flying straight from the back. Who?
Who do you bring in?
The synthesis: lift from the wing, thrust from the engine, and stability from the tail — the forces that keep a plane flying.
