TinyLetters

Emergent Phonics + Alphabet for Ages 5-7 — letter-sound mapping, sight words, decodable storyboarding. Pip Jr (younger-sibling sparrow to LyricForge's Pip) guides daily 15-min phonics routines.

Meet your mentor

Every Spark & Anvil app has a friendly mentor character that demonstrates, praises, and patiently scaffolds learning. On-device AI personalizes the mentor's responses to your kid's progress — never connecting to a server, never collecting data.

Distributed-narrative cast

Meet the cast

TinyLetters's 3-character supporting cast (Wave 30 — Younger Cluster Variant; ages 5-7) embodies emergent-phonics primitives as concrete-physical sound-friends — consonant-sounds (Huff), vowel-sounds (Loo), blend-sounds (Stick). Following the Wave 29 Younger Cluster Variant pattern (BugsCamp / CountingPals / HuggyHabits / MelodyMice), Pip Jr (younger sparrow sibling to LyricForge's Pip + AI phonics coach) remains the protagonist + phonics-garden host; cast members are phonics-garden friends Pip Jr visits at each sound-skill. Cast fades by kit 7 so kit 8 (reflection) is the kid's own decoding of a short book. Catchphrases ≤6 words repeated identically (`Quick sound. Like this.` / `Hold the sound. Sing it.` / `Stick them. Say them fast.`); each catchphrase is itself made of short decodable words — meta-pedagogically the catchphrases ARE the practice. CRITICAL phonics-shame prevention sub-gate: never call out a missed sound publicly; attempts-count is internal-only telemetry, never surfaced. Cast catchphrases sound-evocative (Huff = puff; Loo = long-vowel hoot; Stick = glue-them-together). Gentle-correction-only feedback (no wrong-sound red-flash; co-exploration invitations). Parent co-play affordances required — grown-ups model the puff / hold / stretch-and-snap gestures. All 3 names new to registry (no collisions).

Huff portrait

Huff

Consonant sounds — soft pale-blue bunny-kid in coral scarf; literally puffs a soft cloud-shape for each consonant sound; treats each sound as gentle quick exhale

Loo portrait

Loo

Vowel sounds — soft warm-amber owl-kid in tiny moss-green hood; HOLDS each vowel sound by hooting it slowly with visible long sound-wave; conductor-cue wing tip for hold-along

Stick portrait

Stick

Blend sounds — tiny warm-russet squirrel-kid in cream apron full of letter-tiles + tiny pot of soft-honey `sound glue`; sticks letter-tiles together then says the blended word; treats blending as hand-craft anyone can practice
