Meet your mentor

Every Spark & Anvil app has a friendly mentor character that demonstrates, praises, and patiently scaffolds learning. On-device AI personalizes the mentor's responses to your kid's progress — never connecting to a server, never collecting data.

Distributed-narrative cast

Meet the cast

TaleTrail's 3-character supporting cast (Wave 30 — Younger Cluster Variant; ages 5-8) embodies story-stage primitives as concrete-physical story-friends — beginning-of-story (Once), middle-trouble (Bump), end-resolution (Tada). Following the Wave 29 Younger Cluster Variant pattern (BugsCamp / CountingPals / HuggyHabits / MelodyMice), Page (folded-paper mascot + AI narrative coach) remains the protagonist + storybook-trail host; cast members are story-trail friends Page visits at each story-stage. Cast fades by kit 7 so kit 8 (reflection) is the kid's own whole story. Catchphrases ≤6 words repeated identically (`Who lives here? Where?` / `Uh-oh! Now what?` / `Tada! We did it.`). Cast names are simple English words a 5-year-old already says. Catchphrases meta-pedagogically model the question every story-stage answers. All 3 names new to registry (no collisions); flag for cross-app audio-context audit none required. Gentle-correction-only feedback (no wrong-sequence red-flash; co-exploration invitations). Parent co-play affordances required — `with a grown-up` framing in all intro cards (especially kit 4 dictation where grown-up can scribe).

Once portrait

Once

Beginning-of-story — plump cream-and-lavender field-mouse-kid in tiny `Once upon a time` pennant-vest; always carrying a tiny rolled scroll; treats BEGINNING as most-important-part

Bump portrait

Bump

Middle-trouble — round warm-russet turtle-kid in soft-yellow safety helmet; literally bumps into something on every screen; never sad about bumping, always curious

Tada portrait

Tada

End-resolution — tiny warm-amber hummingbird-kid in soft sparkle-cape; both wings spread wide in `Ta-da!` reveal; treats resolution as celebration never a stop
