Meet your mentor
Every Spark & Anvil app has a friendly mentor character that demonstrates, praises, and patiently scaffolds learning. On-device AI personalizes the mentor's responses to your kid's progress — never connecting to a server, never collecting data.
#29B6F6 A friendly, illustrated walkthrough of EquationQuest for learners (ages 9-14), parents, and educators. For the technical architecture, see DEVELOPER_GUIDE.md. For curriculum alignment details, see TECHNICAL_DESIGN.md.

What's inside
First Launch
Your first launch walks through a brief onboarding (about 60 seconds):
The Four Tabs
EquationQuest is organized into four tabs at the bottom of the screen:
1. Solve (the home screen)
If you've set your Grade Level to 4-5 in your Profile, this screen automatically simplifies to a focused 3-element layout (hero + stats + topics).
2. Adventure
Five game modes that wrap algebra inside richer gameplay loops. Modes unlock as you play more sessions:
Mentored by Pivot — on-device AI, no data leaves the device.
How EquationQuest handles your kid's data
- ✅ All progress, settings, and AI-generated content stays on the device
- ✅ No analytics, no tracking, no third-party SDKs
- ✅ No ads, no in-app purchases — you pay once
- ✅ COPPA compliant under the 2026 FTC amendments
- ✅ Parental controls + session limits + content filters built in
EquationQuest runs on ForgeKit — the open-source Swift Package Manager framework that powers every Spark & Anvil app. ForgeKit ensures consistent accessibility, COPPA compliance, and design language across the portfolio, so your kid's progress and preferences feel coherent across every app they touch.
